Sebastian Baez holds a narrow edge in trader consensus for the Winston-Salem Open round-of-16 matchup against fellow Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo, reflecting his 3-1 career head-to-head lead and prior title at the event in 2023. All previous encounters occurred on clay, leaving this their first hard-court meeting at an ATP 250. Baez arrives after a demanding schedule that included a Cancun Challenger final and multiple hard-court matches in quick succession, while Cerundolo enters fresher following a straight-sets win over Dhakshineswar Suresh and earlier hard-court victories over Mark Lajal and Arthur Rinderknech in Cincinnati. Both players sit near No. 50 in the rankings with comparable 2026 win rates, underscoring the competitive balance on a surface where neither has dominated.
