Kasidit Samrej and Hiroki Moriya meet in the first round of the Zhangjiagang Challenger on outdoor hard courts, their third meeting overall and second on this surface. The head-to-head stands tied at 1-1, with Samrej taking their most recent encounter in straight sets at an ITF event in Thailand in September 2024. The 25-year-old Thai has posted a stronger 2026 record on hard, including recent wins at the M25 Taipei level, while climbing toward a career-high ranking near 346. The 35-year-old Japanese veteran, whose career peak reached No. 143, enters after qualifying for the main draw but has shown inconsistent results across multiple challengers this season. Trader consensus reflects Samrej’s edge in current form and age against Moriya’s experience in a closely matched opener.
