Calvin Hemery enters the Plovdiv 3 Challenger first round as the clear favorite against Eric Vanshelboim, backed by his No. 325 ranking, No. 6 seeding, and greater experience at the Challenger and ATP level on clay. Hemery has posted recent wins in events like Troyes and Gstaad qualifying but carries mixed results from Sion and Lyon. Vanshelboim, ranked No. 426, arrives with solid recent ITF form on clay including multiple victories in Spain and the Netherlands, though he lacks comparable depth at this tier and has no prior head-to-head history with Hemery. The clay surface favors baseline rallies where both players compete effectively, yet trader pricing reflects Hemery’s edge in ranking, consistency, and match toughness.
