Greet Minnen and Jeline Vandromme, both Belgians, meet in the opening round of US Open women's singles qualifying on outdoor hard courts. Vandromme holds the higher WTA ranking at 139 compared to Minnen's 178, reflecting stronger recent results and a higher Elo rating despite her younger age. The pair has no prior head-to-head meetings. Minnen brings greater professional experience at age 29, while Vandromme's recent form includes multiple wins that have lifted her into the top 150. As a first-round qualifier match, factors like serve effectiveness on the faster hard surface, return play, and physical freshness after travel will shape the outcome, with traders viewing the contest as competitive given the ranking gap and lack of direct history.
