FC Nürnberg and Hertha BSC sit atop the table after two wins apiece and strong opening results. Hannover 96, narrowly missing out last season, plus Karlsruher SC and others add competition in a division where the top two earn direct promotion and third enters playoffs against Bundesliga 16th place.
