Agreements covering only a portion of the company will not qualify. A qualifying announcement of a definitive agreement occurring within the specified timeframe will qualify regardless of whether the deal closes or is later withdrawn. The resolution source for this market will be official announcements from GFL Environmental.GFL Environmental's special committee continues reviewing unsolicited take-private offers first reported in early July 2026, with CEO Patrick Dovigi confirming in late-July Q2 earnings that bids exceed current trading levels but stressing he is not a seller and would roll 100% of his ~25% voting stake into any structure. The company's ~$21 billion market capitalization, $7.1 billion debt load, and pending SECURE Waste acquisition—targeted to close October 1—add execution complexity amid strong organic revenue growth of 16.3% and raised 2026 guidance. With no transaction finalized nearly two months after initial interest from multiple private equity firms, traders price the implied probability of a completed announcement by year-end at just 44.5% for "Yes," reflecting typical timelines for large leveraged buyouts and the founder's preference for maintaining control.
