Barcelona enters the 2026-27 La Liga campaign as the clear frontrunner to retain the title after winning 2025-26 by eight points, bolstered by additions such as Rodri, Karim Adeyemi, and Anthony Gordon alongside core talent including Lamine Yamal and Pedri. Real Madrid, starting fresh under José Mourinho with reinforcements including Yan Diomande, sits as the primary challenger after finishing second last season and trails in most pre-season models and odds. Atlético Madrid under Diego Simeone remains the consensus third-place side with limited title upside. The early-season schedule and squad stability favor a top-two finish dominated by the two Madrid-Barcelona clubs, leaving mid-table and promoted sides like Villarreal, Betis, or Athletic Bilbao with minimal realistic paths to second place absent major injuries or collapses among the leaders.
