This market will resolve to the next individual who is officially appointed as High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially appointed by Peace Implementation Council Steering Board. Any acting, interim, or caretaker High Representative will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such High Representative is appointed by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “No HR in 2026”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board and the Office of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina (https://www.ohr.int/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Ongoing deadlock within the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board has left the permanent High Representative post vacant since Christian Schmidt's May 2026 resignation and the July transition to acting status under Louis Crishock. Transatlantic divisions over candidates—including US support for Antonio Zanardi Landi against European preferences for René Troccaz or others like Peter Sørensen and Maurizio Massari—have prevented consensus, amid broader calls from Russia, China, and some EU voices to limit or close the Office of the High Representative.
