Darijana Filipović leads as the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) nominee for the Croat seat on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite presidency, reflecting the party’s dominant position among Croat voters through its extensive networks, consistent Federation election results, and entity-based voting rules. Candidate lists were certified in August 2026 ahead of the October 4 general election, locking in a three-way contest after nominations earlier in the year. Slaven Kovačević, running as an independent backed by the Democratic Front and serving as an advisor to the incumbent, draws support from voters seeking alternatives to the main party structures. Zdenko Lučić receives backing from the smaller Petorka coalition of parties including HDZ 1990. Trader consensus aligns with these established party alignments and historical voting patterns in the Croat community, with limited developments since the July certification to shift the field.
