Abba Kabir Yusuf holds the lead in the Kano 2027 governorship market at 59.5% amid his recent defection from NNPP to APC and subsequent adoption as the party’s consensus candidate. Key APC figures including Abdullahi Ganduje and Barau Jibrin have publicly endorsed his re-election bid, consolidating institutional and federal alignment ahead of the polls. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo trails at 37% as the NDC nominee backed by the Kwankwasiyya movement, with Mustapha Kwankwaso named running mate to leverage grassroots networks. The contest remains competitive due to divided loyalties from Yusuf’s political shift, competing party structures, and the influence of major stakeholders like Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Upcoming primary processes, running-mate selections, and coalition realignments could further shift trader assessments of the frontrunners’ paths to victory.
