This market will resolve to "Yes" if Lionel Messi finishes as the leading goalscorer of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season regular season. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The 2027 MLS Sprint Season is the abbreviated 14-match Major League Soccer regular season scheduled to run from February 2027 to May 2027. Only goals scored in Sprint Season regular-season matches count. Goals in the 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, U.S. Open Cup, international matches and friendlies do not count. If Major League Soccer officially presents a Golden Boot award for the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, this market will resolve according to that award. If two or more players finish level on goals scored, this market will resolve according to the tiebreaker applied by Major League Soccer, which awards the Golden Boot to the tied player with the fewest minutes played. If no single winner can be determined, this market will resolve to "No". If the 2027 MLS Sprint Season is cancelled, postponed after June 15, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or no leading goalscorer can be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Soccer; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Messi's advanced age of 40 during the 2027 season and recent hints of waning motivation after Argentina's World Cup final loss and his international retirement create the main uncertainty behind the near-even odds. Strong 2026 production, including a share of the goal-scoring lead with 18 strikes and elite playmaking for Inter Miami, sustains trader belief in another Golden Boot push. Yet younger contenders such as Petar Musa and Nicolás Fernández Mercau, plus reports of a possible early return to Newell’s Old Boys, highlight the competitive field. Early 2027 preseason fitness updates, contract signals, and opening-weekend scoring tallies could quickly shift the market-implied probability either way.
