Goldman Sachs holds a commanding lead in the implied probabilities for serving as lead-left underwriter on OpenAI’s IPO, driven by its recent selection for the same role on SpaceX and longstanding dominance in major technology offerings. Reports from June 2026 confirm that OpenAI, after confidentially filing its S-1 with the SEC, has engaged both Goldman and Morgan Stanley as the primary book runners for the potential late-2026 or 2027 debut of the artificial intelligence leader behind ChatGPT. The contest centers on which bank secures the top “lead left” position, a designation that typically commands significantly larger fees and allocations. Morgan Stanley remains a credible contender given its deep tech IPO experience, while smaller probabilities for other banks reflect their secondary roles. Final selection could shift with OpenAI’s board decisions or evolving market conditions ahead of pricing.

If no IPO occurs by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or OpenAI completes an initial public offering without a designated lead underwriter, this market will resolve to “Other.”
If multiple banks are identified as lead underwriters, this market will resolve according to the primary lead underwriter. If the hierarchy between them is unclear, this market will resolve once it is conclusively evident which bank is the primary lead underwriter, for example, through the order in which the banks are listed in the underwriting section of OpenAI's final initial public offering prospectus, once released.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official disclosures from OpenAI. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
