The upcoming August 28 release of the Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes Tin is the dominant catalyst weighing on trader sentiment for the Pikachu ex (276/217) Special Illustration Rare from the Ascended Heroes set. This product directly reprints chase cards from the expansion, including the popular “Treekachu” artwork, which is expected to increase available supply just days before the August 31 price snapshot. Recent market data already shows downward pressure, with the card dropping roughly $150 in a single week to around $1,076 and posting 7-day declines near 9 percent amid broader cooling in high-end Pokémon TCG singles. Traders view the tin as a classic supply shock that historically compresses prices on SIR chase cards shortly after launch, outweighing any residual hype from earlier 2026 surges. While the exact volume entering the secondary market remains uncertain, the timing creates a clear near-term bearish bias reflected in the 89 percent implied probability for “Down.”
