Recent drone attacks by Iran-aligned groups on September 10-11 forced a precautionary shutdown of Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline (Petroline), which had been routing 4-5 million barrels per day—roughly 4-5% of global supply—as a bypass around the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated on September 15 that flows should resume within days following damage assessments, though industry sources cite repair timelines ranging from partial restarts in days to full capacity restoration in five to six weeks or longer due to pumping station impacts. This outage has prompted rerouting of some volumes through Hormuz with U.S. support and contributed to elevated crude prices above $100 per barrel, with traders monitoring Aramco export schedules and Yanbu inventory levels for resolution signals.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if the government of Saudi Arabia announces that the East-West oil pipeline is operational or no longer shut down between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
A qualifying announcement must express that the pipeline is presently operating; operation at partial or reduced capacity qualifies.
Announcements that attribute such a claim to third parties, state that the pipeline will or may operate in the future, describe work underway to restore operation, or frame resumption as expected, planned, or conditional, will not qualify.
Once a qualifying announcement is made, this market will resolve to “Yes,” regardless of any subsequent contradictory statements, or alternative information from other sources.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Saudi Arabia.
