The Parti Québécois leads Quebec’s October 5, 2026 general election projections due to sustained polling support near 30 percent, driven by gains among francophone voters and multiple by-election victories since 2022. Recent surveys from Léger, Synopsis, and Pallas Data place the PQ ahead of the Liberals at roughly 25 percent and the CAQ at 20 percent, with seat models from 338Canada and Polling Canada forecasting a PQ plurality or majority in most scenarios. The CAQ’s long-term decline under new leader Christine Fréchette and the Liberals’ inability to consolidate the federalist vote have contributed to this positioning. PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon’s recent pledge to delay any sovereignty referendum until after the current U.S. presidential term has addressed a key voter concern without altering the party’s core platform. With the campaign set to begin by late August and high numbers of undecided voters, traders see these dynamics as favoring a PQ outcome.
