The Parti Québécois holds a commanding position in trader assessments for the October 5, 2026, Quebec general election due to consistent polling leads of roughly 30 percent popular vote since mid-2026, driven by strong francophone support that translates efficiently into seats under the first-past-the-post system. Seat projections from models such as 338Canada and Polling Canada assign the PQ a high likelihood of securing a plurality or majority, while the vote splits among federalist-leaning parties—PLQ and the incumbent CAQ under new leader Christine Fréchette—limit their competitiveness outside Montreal. Recent factors include the CAQ’s declining satisfaction ratings following François Legault’s resignation, stable but secondary standing for the PLQ under Charles Milliard, and high undecided voter shares that have not eroded the PQ’s edge in francophone ridings. Minor parties such as QS, PCQ, and PVQ register minimal projected seat shares.
