This market will resolve to “Yes” if Ursula von der Leyen ceases to be the President of the European Commission for any period of time between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of von der Leyen's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the European Commission and the European Union, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Ursula von der Leyen holds a full second five-year mandate as European Commission President, confirmed by absolute majority in the European Parliament in July 2024 and running through the 2029 elections. As of August 2026 she remains the active incumbent, chairing College meetings, conducting high-level diplomacy such as the January 2026 Mercosur trade agreement signing and visits to Ukraine, and delivering addresses at Davos and national parliaments. Multiple no-confidence votes in the Parliament, including one in January 2026, have been defeated by large majorities backed by the centre-right, centre-left, and Renew groups. No official statements, procedural moves, or institutional developments point to early departure, while her chief of staff has indicated she will not seek a third term after 2029. These factors underpin trader consensus that the 2026 removal scenario carries very low implied probability.
