Incumbent Keith Ellison secured the Democratic nomination overwhelmingly in the August 11 primary and enters the November general election with a strong historical edge, as Democrats have held the Minnesota attorney general post for 60 years. Recent KSTP/SurveyUSA polling shows a tight race, with Ellison and Republican Ronald J. Schutz essentially tied around 43% each amid high undecided shares. Schutz has focused on enforcement record issues including fraud cases under Ellison’s office and immigration priorities, while Ellison highlights consumer protections and legal challenges to federal policies. Trader pricing reflects Ellison’s incumbency and party dominance despite the narrow polling margins that could shift with turnout or late developments before election day.
