The 2026 Big 12 passing touchdowns race remains tightly contested early in the season because a deep group of returning starters and high-profile transfers enter with comparable pedigrees and supporting casts. Noah Fifita at Arizona brings proven volume and efficiency from prior campaigns, while Drew Mestemaker at Oklahoma State arrives after leading the FBS in passing yards and touchdowns as a transfer. Bear Bachmeier at BYU, Devon Dampier at Utah, and others such as Alonza Barnett III at UCF and JC French IV at Cincinnati add dual-threat elements and experience that could shift production quickly. With most teams opening their schedules in Week 1 and no dominant frontrunner established, small differences in offensive pace, target distribution, and early results keep implied probabilities clustered among more than two dozen signal-callers.
