To count for resolution, the individual must be officially appointed and sworn in as Prime Minister of Italy. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2028, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Italy; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Giorgia Meloni leads trader pricing as the incumbent heading a center-right coalition whose largest party, Brothers of Italy, consistently polls in the mid-to-high 20s ahead of the general election due by December 2027. Recent parliamentary defeats on electoral reform and justice measures have exposed coalition strains, including defections and Matteo Salvini’s declining League support, while Roberto Vannacci’s new Futuro Nazionale party draws right-wing votes and complicates alliance arithmetic. On the center-left, Elly Schlein’s Democratic Party trails in aggregates and faces internal pressure from Giuseppe Conte’s Five Star Movement, which often shows stronger cross-faction appeal in head-to-head testing. These dynamics—incumbency advantage offset by coalition fragility and opposition fragmentation—underpin the current ordering, with lower-probability names reflecting limited polling momentum or structural barriers to government formation.
