This market will resolve to "No meeting by December 31" if no qualifying meeting occurs during this market's timeframe. A meeting is defined as any encounter where Putin and Trump are all present and interact with each other in person. An exchange of words, handshake, direct conversation, or other clear personal interaction between the named individuals will qualify as a meeting. Merely standing in proximity, making eye contact, or being present in the same room or event without direct interaction will not qualify. For this market, Gulf states are defined as the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates). The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting.Diplomatic contacts between the Trump administration and Putin have continued through phone calls and envoys this year, yet stalled Ukraine negotiations and the absence of any announced 2026 summit have kept “no meeting by December 31” narrowly ahead at 51 percent. A planned follow-up to the 2025 Alaska summit collapsed amid disagreements over territory and security guarantees, with the White House stating on August 21 there are no immediate plans for an in-person encounter. China’s 45.5 percent share reflects trader views that a neutral multilateral venue could still emerge if broader geopolitical talks advance, while traditional sites such as Russia, the United States, or European capitals remain below 1 percent due to political and logistical barriers. Upcoming diplomatic calendars and any shift in battlefield conditions could quickly alter these probabilities.
