Gubernatorial elections are currently scheduled to be held in Lagos State, Nigeria, on February 6, 2027. If the election is officially rescheduled, this market will resolve based on the election held to choose the Governor for the term beginning in 2027. This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial election. Any interim, acting, or caretaker Governor will not qualify. If the results are not known definitively by October 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". To be elected Governor, a candidate must satisfy the requirements under Nigerian law, including receiving the highest number of votes cast and the constitutionally required geographic distribution of votes. If no candidate wins the election outright, this market will remain open to account for any further election or runoff, provided this occurs before the resolution deadline. If no candidate has been officially elected by the resolution deadline, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results published by Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Nigerian government sources.**Obafemi Hamzat leads with 72% implied probability as the APC consensus candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship election.** The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dominated Lagos politics since 1999, and Hamzat—current Deputy Governor under Babajide Sanwo-Olu—secured the party ticket through a May 2026 primary where he received 657,917 of roughly 658,000 votes cast after other aspirants withdrew. The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), state assembly leadership, Sanwo-Olu, and President Bola Tinubu all endorsed him as the preferred successor, framing the outcome around continuity in infrastructure, service delivery, and economic management. Opposition parties remain fragmented. Candidates such as Laja Adeoye (APM), Rhodes-Vivour Gbadebo Patrick, and others from smaller platforms face internal nomination disputes and limited organizational reach ahead of the February 2027 vote. Recent activity, including Hamzat’s August 2026 statements on housing affordability and technocrat coalitions promoting technology-driven governance, has reinforced perceptions of momentum for the APC ticket. Trader pricing reflects the APC’s structural advantages, historical dominance, and unified party backing rather than guaranteed results, with room for shifts from late opposition consolidation or unforeseen developments before election day.
