The closely matched strength of these AFC West rivals underpins the market's preference for a split series at 51.5% implied probability. The Chargers enter with upgraded offensive line stability around Justin Herbert, new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, and additions like Omarion Hampton, positioning them as stronger contenders after an 11-6 campaign. Kansas City counters with running back Kenneth Walker III to address last season's ground-game woes but faces ongoing uncertainty from Patrick Mahomes' knee recovery and multiple training-camp injuries to defenders and linemen. With games at Arrowhead in October and SoFi Stadium late in the year, recent preseason developments highlight balanced rosters and situational edges that favor neither side sweeping the series.
