Recent USGS monitoring data show only minor seismic activity across Southern California, with no foreshock swarms, elevated strain rates, or other precursors on the San Andreas or nearby faults that would signal heightened short-term risk. Baseline probabilities from UCERF3 place the annual chance of a magnitude 6.5+ event in the Los Angeles region well below 5 percent, making occurrence in the remaining four months of 2026 statistically unlikely absent new signals. Traders therefore assign strong weight to the absence of triggering developments. A sudden cluster of moderate events or revised fault-stress assessments could still alter odds before year-end.
