This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump publicly and unequivocally announces that he is removing Lisa Cook as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, or takes formal action toward doing so, such as issuing a directive or formal request, between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Statements which are contingent (e.g. “Cook must step down”), statements of intent (e.g.“I am planning to fire Cook) or other informal statements which are not unequivocal will not qualify. If Lisa Cook resigns or otherwise formally departs her role as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors prior to a qualifying action, this market will immediately resolve to "No". The resolution source will be official information from Donald Trump; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. President Trump renewed his effort to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on August 5, 2026, when the White House sent her a formal letter stating he is “considering” her dismissal over 2021 mortgage fraud allegations and giving her 21 days to respond. This follows the Supreme Court’s June 29, 2026, 5-4 ruling that blocked an earlier firing attempt and preserved the “for cause” removal protections under the Federal Reserve Act while litigation continues. Cook has denied the claims as baseless and politically timed. Traders are monitoring the August 26 response deadline and any subsequent executive action or court filings, as procedural compliance with notice requirements and ongoing legal challenges over central bank independence remain the central variables shaping near-term probabilities.
