The closely matched market-implied odds around 50% reflect a highly competitive field where multiple labs deliver comparable image-editing performance in large language model benchmarks. OpenAI’s September 8 release of ChatGPT Images 2.5 introduced up to 50% lower latency, stronger subject preservation from references, and more reliable targeted edits that avoid unintended changes—features that directly address common pain points in prompt-based editing. Microsoft’s MAI-Image-2.6 leads some editing arenas with multi-image reference handling, while Google’s Nano Banana variants, Meta’s Muse Image, Black Forest Labs’ Flux models, and ByteDance’s Seedream series remain strong on consistency, speed, and specialized tasks. End-of-October resolution will hinge on any additional model drops, updated leaderboards, or real-world adoption signals before the cutoff.
