OpenAI’s GPT Image 2, released in April 2026 as the core of ChatGPT Images 2.0, drives the 83.5% implied probability by topping multiple text-to-image arenas with the largest recorded Elo lead and strong prompt adherence plus native reasoning. Its April launch replaced the deprecated DALL-E 3 and delivered measurable gains in resolution, consistency, and editing that outpace rivals in blind evaluations as of August 2026. Microsoft’s MAI-Image models sit at 9.2% on competitive but secondary benchmarks, while specialists like Recraft and Ideogram hold niche edges in design or typography at 2.5%. With roughly two months until resolution, traders see limited scope for challengers such as Google’s Nano Banana variants or Black Forest Labs’ FLUX updates to close the gap absent major new releases.
