A crowded field of over a dozen candidates for Arequipa’s October 4, 2026, municipal election has produced a fragmented contest reflected in trader pricing, with no candidate exceeding low-20s implied probability. Recent July polls showed Manuel Vera, Renzo Salas, and Ricardo Ramírez among the front-runners, though support remained dispersed across parties and independents. Key dynamics include limited name recognition for many contenders, local priorities such as infrastructure, water management, and urban growth, plus procedural hurdles like candidate list validations that have affected visibility for figures including Jorge Reyes. With six weeks remaining, further campaign events, endorsements, or shifts in turnout expectations among key districts could consolidate support and alter the current balance among the leading names.
