A crowded field of over two dozen candidates for the October 4, 2026, Chiclayo mayoral election has kept implied probabilities tightly clustered, with no contender exceeding low- to mid-20s support in recent surveys. Polling from late July and early August shows Elber Requejo Sánchez of Somos Perú ahead in some samples, followed by Edwin Vásquez Sánchez, José Gálvez Tineo, and Félix Orlando Gamarra Reyes of Juntos por el Perú, while others such as Miguel Ángel Bartra Grosso, Nilton Chafloque Córdova, and César Rodríguez Valderrama trail in single digits or low teens. The fragmented vote, combined with limited name recognition for many entrants and the absence of a clear frontrunner or major late-breaking endorsements, sustains uncertainty. Upcoming debates, final registration confirmations, and any shifts in local alliances could consolidate support and widen gaps before election day.
