Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for September 6, 2026, points to a high near 78–80°F at Los Angeles International Airport, aligning with the market’s leading 78–79°F outcome. Persistent onshore flow from the Pacific marine layer, combined with morning cloud cover and a 60% chance of showers or isolated thunderstorms, is expected to limit daytime heating and suppress temperatures below the long-term average of roughly 76.5°F. Recent climatological data show September highs at LAX averaging 77–78°F amid neutral ENSO conditions, while yesterday’s observed peak of 78°F reinforces the current pattern. Forecast uncertainty centers on the timing and coverage of precipitation, which could shift the daily maximum by 2–4°F depending on whether clearing occurs before peak insolation. Traders appear to weigh these variables against historical analogs where similar late-summer marine influences produced highs clustered in the upper 70s.
