Hsu Hsin-ying leads as the Kuomintang nominee for the November 28, 2026 Hsinchu County magistrate race, reflecting the party's continuous control of the county government since 2001 and her March 2026 primary victory over deputy magistrate Chen Chien-hsien. The DPP selected Jhubei mayor Cheng Chao-fang as its candidate in June, while other potential contenders remain at minimal implied probabilities. KMT unity efforts, including a July national convention rally, and Hsu's prior local legislative and council experience reinforce trader assessments of her frontrunner status ahead of the vote. The market assigns lower probabilities to alternatives amid the county's established partisan patterns and limited recent shifts in candidate positioning.
