Recent polling for the September 20, 2026 Landtag election shows the AfD holding steady near 36 percent, ahead of the SPD at 28–29 percent, with the Left around 11–12 percent, the CDU near 9–10 percent, and smaller parties clustered around or below the 5 percent threshold. This produces projected AfD seat totals in the low-to-mid 30s under Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s proportional system with overhang and leveling seats, keeping the 28–31 and 32–35 seat ranges nearly even in trader pricing. The SPD’s modest recent gains and stable AfD support have narrowed but not eliminated the gap, while uncertainty over whether the Greens or BSW clear the threshold adds variability to final seat math. With four weeks remaining, shifts in turnout among eastern German voters or last-minute movement on immigration and economic issues could widen or narrow the AfD’s projected range.
