Recent polling in Saxony-Anhalt consistently places the AfD at 42-43% ahead of the 6 September 2026 Landtag election, with the CDU at 22-23%, Die Linke at 13%, and smaller parties (SPD, Greens, BSW, FDP) clustered near or below the 5% threshold. Under the state's mixed-member proportional system for 83 seats, this support level typically yields the AfD 38-42 seats when multiple minor parties clear the threshold, while failures by those parties concentrate additional seats with the AfD. Campaigns urging tactical votes for centrist and left-leaning options have gained attention in the final weeks as a potential check on further AfD gains. The party's eastern branch remains classified as right-wing extremist by state intelligence, though this has not altered current vote intention trends. Trader pricing for the 38-41 seat band reflects the narrow band between baseline projections and modest threshold effects that could push results slightly higher.
