Hsu Shu-hua, the Kuomintang incumbent magistrate of Nantou County, holds a dominant position in the 2026 election due to her established local record, including debt reduction to zero county liabilities and progress on transportation hubs, public facilities, and healthcare infrastructure. Nantou's consistent preference for KMT candidates, combined with her 2022 victory margin and sustained approval ratings, reinforces this standing ahead of the November 28 vote. The Democratic Progressive Party nominee, Wen Shih-cheng, a dentist with limited recent county residency and no prior elected experience, presents a limited challenge. Trader consensus reflected in current pricing aligns with these structural factors, though late developments such as major scandals, health events, or unexpected independent candidacies could still alter outcomes before ballots close.
