Recent July 2026 CPI data showing a 2.8% year-over-year increase, down from 3.2% in June, has anchored trader sentiment for South Korea’s full-year average inflation, with the Bank of Korea maintaining its 2.7% projection amid moderating energy prices. Stronger-than-expected GDP growth, fueled by semiconductor exports and domestic demand recovery, supports the closely matched probabilities for the 2.7–2.9% and 2.4–2.6% ranges, while persistent core inflation at 2.6% and potential further policy rate hikes introduce upside risks toward 3.0% or higher. Geopolitical oil price volatility and exchange rate movements remain key swing factors ahead of the August CPI release.
