Gubernatorial elections are currently scheduled to be held in Fukushima on October 25, 2026. This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2026 Fukushima gubernatorial elections. Any interim or caretaker Governor will not qualify. If the results are not known definitively by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". If no candidate reaches the legally required number of votes to win the election, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Fukushima and Japan, including the Fukushima Prefecture Election Management Committee (https://www.pref.fukushima.lg.jp/sec/62010a/).Masao Uchibori, the independent incumbent governor of Fukushima Prefecture since 2014, commands overwhelming trader consensus in the October 2026 gubernatorial election due to his established oversight of post-2011 nuclear disaster reconstruction efforts, including the ongoing third phase through 2030. Recent local Liberal Democratic Party federation endorsement has further reinforced his position ahead of the vote. Limited organized opposition and minimal visible momentum among challengers such as Yudai Endo, Kunihiko Hasenuma, and Jun Kanayama have kept their implied probabilities low. The race could shift if a high-profile alternative candidate emerges, major reconstruction funding setbacks occur, or unforeseen health or scandal developments arise before election day.
