Recent National Weather Service and NOAA model consensus points to a minimum temperature in the upper 60s to low 70s for Chicago on September 5, aligning with the tightly clustered market probabilities around 68–73°F. Northeast winds off Lake Michigan are advecting cooler, more stable air onshore, moderating overnight lows near the shoreline while inland areas remain slightly warmer. Early patchy fog and increasing cloud cover further limit radiational cooling. This setup follows several days of above-normal heat, with the lake breeze and shifting wind direction providing the key downward adjustment. Updated evening model runs and official observations will refine the exact minimum before resolution.
