Toy Story 5’s record $160 million domestic opening weekend in June—the largest of 2026 until Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s $360 million debut—has cemented strong trader consensus around its third-place finish among all 2026 releases. Subsequent summer tentpoles including The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (~$132 million) and The Odyssey (~$124 million) posted notably smaller bows, while late-year entries such as Avengers: Doomsday, Dune: Messiah, and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping currently imply far lower opening potential based on tracking and historical patterns. With no confirmed releases positioned to slot cleanly between Spider-Man and Toy Story 5, the market reflects aggregated sentiment that Toy Story 5 will hold the third slot through year-end.
