Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Kaohsiung as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Lai Jui-lung, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee, holds the strongest trader consensus at 77.5% implied probability in the Kaohsiung mayoral race, reflecting his primary victory over rivals including Chiu Yi-ying, Hsu Chih-chieh, and Lin Tai-hua, combined with leads in most surveys amid the city’s established DPP legislative and organizational base. Kuomintang candidate Ko Chih-en trails at 23%, supported by targeted outreach on youth employment, housing, and infrastructure while capitalizing on variable polling that has shown the margin narrowing to single digits in some recent online surveys. Other listed candidates remain at negligible levels ahead of formal registration from August 31 to September 4, with the November 28 vote still shaped by undecided voters and the outgoing mayor’s high approval ratings. Recent heavy rainfall has prompted visible responses from both camps on flood management and drainage upgrades.
