Incumbent Princess Faku of the ANC leads trader consensus for Buffalo City's next mayor following the November 4, 2026, South African municipal elections, though multiple outcomes trade near even levels. ANC internal processes have confirmed her as the recommended candidate while naming other potential figures, including Yomelela Tyali and Bongiwe Sauli from the mayoral committee. Opposition parties are preparing bids, with the UDM positioning Nqabayomzi Kwankwa as a contender. Recent municipal accountability concerns and service delivery pressures continue to shape party strategies. Final candidate lists, coalition prospects in a fragmented council, and voter turnout in key wards could shift implied probabilities before election day.
