Geordin Hill-Lewis, the incumbent Democratic Alliance mayor and party federal leader since April 2026, holds overwhelming trader support for re-election in Cape Town’s November 2026 local government elections. The DA’s established majority in the metro council underpins expectations of another term, reinforced by Hill-Lewis’s recent announcement of his candidacy and five-pledge platform focused on service delivery. Opposition nominees from the ANC, EFF, and smaller parties such as GOOD face structural barriers in a city where the DA has governed continuously. While coalition negotiations or major shifts in voter registration and turnout could theoretically alter outcomes before polling day, current positioning leaves limited room for challengers to close the gap.
