Helen Zille leads trader pricing at 63.5% for the next Johannesburg mayor after the November 4, 2026 municipal elections because the DA’s candidate has maintained a sustained public campaign since 2025 focused on infrastructure failures, service delivery, and governance stability. Recent polls place the DA well ahead of the ANC in the metro, while the ANC’s prolonged internal process has left its candidate unconfirmed as of late August despite shortlisting Loyiso Masuku, Dada Morero, and Frank Chikane. ActionSA’s Herman Mashaba and other smaller-party contenders trade at low single digits amid expectations of coalition negotiations. Trader consensus reflects Zille’s experience as a former Cape Town mayor, the city’s recent history of unstable coalitions, and the absence of a unified ANC alternative heading into the vote.
