Meit Fohlin (S), the incumbent chair of Region Gotland’s regional board since 2022 and a key figure in the Social Democrats-Moderates governing coalition, holds a commanding lead in trader assessments for the post following the September 13, 2026, regional elections. Her position reflects continuity in the current majority bloc, her established role coordinating infrastructure, ferry pricing, and defense-related matters on the island, and limited visible challenges from within her party or coalition partners ahead of the vote. Lower-priced alternatives such as Rolf Öström (M), the first vice chair, or other listed candidates register minimal movement, consistent with stable coalition dynamics and the absence of major recent disruptions to the leadership lineup. Shifts in seat distribution after the election, internal party negotiations on presidium roles, or unforeseen developments before October 2026 could still alter the outcome.
