Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins leads the Alaska top-four nonpartisan primary for governor, currently holding the highest vote share at roughly 21.7 percent based on early and partial results from the August 18 election, ahead of Tom Begich near 20 percent. The open race follows term limits on incumbent Mike Dunleavy, drawing a crowded field of Democrats, Republicans, and independents including Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson, and Bill Walker. Kreiss-Tomkins benefits from stronger early fundraising and consolidated Democratic support that positions him to secure first place, while Republican votes remain more fragmented across multiple candidates. Final certification of statewide results will determine the exact order and which four advance to the November general election under ranked-choice voting.
