Official NWS Austin/San Antonio forecasts and multiple models indicate a high near 99°F for Austin on August 31 under mostly sunny skies with southerly flow and minimal precipitation risk. A strong mid-level ridge promoting subsidence, combined with peak late-summer solar insolation and low morning humidity, supports daytime heating into the upper 90s. Minor differences in afternoon cloud cover or boundary-layer mixing across model runs create the narrow spread between 98–99°F and 100–101°F bins. With the market assigning 43.5% to 98–99°F and 34% to 100–101°F, traders are pricing the typical late-August climatological maximum while acknowledging small forecast adjustments possible before resolution.
