**Eva Lindberg (S) leads the Polymarket consensus at 85.4% as the likely next chair of Region Gävleborg’s regional board (regionstyrelsen), with most other named candidates at or near 50% and incumbents such as Patrik Stenvard (M) at just 0.5%.** Regional elections on 13 September 2026 will determine the new board composition and chair, who is formally elected by the regional council. Current polling trends and pre-election positioning by the Social Democrats, Centre Party, and Left Party (S, C, V) opposition bloc—emphasizing priorities in healthcare, psychiatry, and primary care—support expectations of a shift away from the existing SD-M-KD-SVG majority that installed Stenvard as chair. Lindberg, currently the board’s second vice chair and an active opposition spokesperson, benefits from this anticipated realignment. The broad field of lower-priced contenders reflects ongoing uncertainty over final coalition negotiations and candidate nominations ahead of the vote. No major late-breaking developments have altered the core electoral dynamics in recent weeks.
