Dune: Part Three holds a narrow lead in the Best Visual Effects market due to the franchise's established reputation for groundbreaking effects under Denis Villeneuve, building on Dune: Part Two's critical and guild recognition. With numerous 2026 releases still months from completion or wide release, traders have clustered most contenders—including several unannounced or early-stage projects—near even odds, reflecting high uncertainty before key milestones like first looks, test screenings, and guild nominations. Differentiating factors include practical effects integration versus heavy CGI reliance, director track records in the category, and sci-fi or action scope. Upcoming catalysts such as fall 2026 premieres and precursor buzz from groups like the Visual Effects Society will likely sharpen the field ahead of the 2027 ceremony.
