Morocco's September 23, 2026, legislative elections occur amid a fragmented multi-party system using proportional representation, where no single party typically secures a majority and coalition formation determines the next government. The incumbent RNI-led coalition, including PAM and Istiqlal, confronts widespread public distrust and low expected turnout, especially among youth, following years of governance challenges. Recent developments such as cross-party consultations on electoral rules, a leadership change at RNI, and Interior Ministry engagements with party heads have kept preparations active but have not produced clear momentum for any contender. PAM holds a narrow trader edge due to its established coalition role and positioning, while RNI trails amid incumbency headwinds; the race remains tight because of voter skepticism and the absence of decisive polling shifts. Late developments in turnout mobilization, economic sentiment, or coalition signaling could create separation ahead of the vote.
