The Black Ball leads trader sentiment for the 2027 Best International Feature Oscar with a 63% implied probability, driven by its strong Cannes reception as Spain’s likely submission and Netflix’s backing for the Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi-directed epic. Early guild and critics’ buzz, combined with its positioning as a frontrunner in precursor predictions, has solidified market consensus around the film. Other entries such as Fjord (18%), All of a Sudden, Fatherland, and Minotaur sit lower as international submissions ramp up and festival circuits continue through fall. With official shortlist announcements still months away, traders are watching for additional Cannes or Venice momentum and country selections that could shift the field before December voting.
