Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a minimum temperature in the low 70s for Atlanta on September 12, driven by a warm, humid airmass with dew points near 70°F, scattered overnight showers, and extensive cloud cover that limits radiational cooling. Light southerly winds and the urban heat island effect at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport further suppress temperature drops compared with rural sites. These conditions align with the market’s tight clustering around 72–75°F bins, as small differences in cloud timing or shower coverage could shift the official low by 1–2°F. Historical September averages near 67°F underscore how the current pattern deviates from climatology, with traders weighting the latest short-range model runs and real-time observations most heavily ahead of resolution.
